Homeownership Is Within Reach

Right now, only about 40% of residents in our community own their homes. UCAN believes that number can and should be higher, and we have been working to change it one household at a time. Our programs are free, bilingual, and built around the barriers that families here actually face.

Free Workshops, All Year Long

UCAN's Pathway to Homeownership workshops run throughout the year at the National Western Center and at venues across the community. Each session covers how homeownership builds long-term wealth, what lending and down payment assistance programs are available to Denver buyers, and how to build the financial habits that make buying possible. Spanish-language support is available.

What Our Homeownership & Financial Literacy Workshop Covers

Budgeting & Money Management

Whether you are starting from scratch or trying to stretch further, UCAN helps you build a realistic picture of your finances and a plan to move forward.

Credit Building & Repair

A strong credit score opens the door to better mortgage terms. We help you understand your credit report, work through any issues, and protect yourself from identity theft.

First-time Homebuyer Education

The homebuying process has a lot of moving parts. UCAN walks you through all of them, from getting pre-approved to what to expect at closing, easy‑to‑understand terms.

Lending Options & Down Payment Assistance

There are more assistance programs available to Denver buyers than most people realize. UCAN connects you with housing counselors and financial advisors who can identify what you qualify for.

Mortgage Counseling

Our network includes HUD-approved housing counselors who review your options with you and make sure you understand what you are signing before you sign it.

Home Insurance

Lenders require it, and the details matter. We help you understand what coverage actually protects you so there are no surprises after you buy.

Is This Program a Good Fit For You?

You do not need to be ready to buy to get started. These programs are useful at every stage:

  • You have never owned a home and are not sure where to begin
  • You are working on your credit and want to know what it takes to qualify
  • You have been saving for a down payment and want to understand your options
  • You are ready to buy and need the right connections to move forward
  • You own your home and want to protect it and reduce your costs

If any of those describe where you are, reach out. There is no wrong place to start.
