UCAN Is Adding OSHA Construction Safety Training: Here's What to Expect

UCAN Metro Denver is expanding what it can offer the North Denver community. Berta Trujillo, VP of UCAN, is currently completing the coursework needed to become an authorized OSHA trainer, which means OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 construction safety courses will soon be available directly through UCAN.

What OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 Are, and Why They Matter

The OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety course is not optional for construction workers. It is a federal requirement for anyone who works on a job site. The card you receive after completing the course is what gets you on site. Without it, you cannot work.

OSHA 30 is the next level: a 30-hour course aimed at supervisors, foremen, and anyone moving into a management role on a construction project. It covers the same core safety principles as OSHA 10 but goes deeper into hazard recognition, compliance, and site leadership responsibilities.

Both courses result in a U.S. Department of Labor OSHA card, which is recognized nationally.

What UCAN's Training Program Will Look Like

OSHA 10 safety training is already built into UCAN's free Apprenticeship Ready Program, and it's one of the credentials that every ARP graduate receives. Once Berta receives her trainer certification, she will be the one delivering that instruction directly, and will also make both OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 available as standalone courses open to community members outside the ARP cohort.

Here's what we know so far:

  • Location: Environmental Innovation Academic Learning Lab, 5115 Race Court, Denver, CO (National Western Center campus)
  • Price: $250 per person (discounts are available, contact UCAN to ask)

  • When: Berta is completing her trainer certification now. Classes are expected to begin in late September or early October 2026, once she receives her official training card. Exact dates will be announced as soon as they are set.
