Neighbors Helping Neighbors Build a Better Denver Together

The United Community Action Network of Metro Denver (UCAN) has worked alongside the community for nearly two decades. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and registered neighborhood organization, and everything we do starts with one commitment: Our neighbors deserve real resources, honest guidance, and a voice in decisions that affect them.

What UCAN Is

UCAN grew out of the needs of a community that had long been underserved and underrepresented. Over the years, that led us to homeownership education, free weatherization assistance, career training, environmental advocacy, and events that bring people together. We are not a government agency or a social services office. We are an organization built by people who live here, run by people who genuinely care about this neighborhood's future.

How UCAN Offers Support

Homeownership & Financial Literacy

Only about 40% of residents in our community own their homes. UCAN is working to change that through free workshops on budgeting, credit, the homebuying process, and down payment assistance, along with connections to the partners who can help make homeownership real for local families.

Youth Workforce Development

Through a partnership with the National Western Center, UCAN offers free career training for students and young adults pursuing work in construction, the skilled trades, and environmental services. Participants leave with industry-recognized certifications and introductions to local employers who are hiring.

Community Events

UCAN brings the neighborhood together throughout the year through homeownership workshops, resource fairs, and community celebrations. They are free, family-friendly, and open to everyone.
